Boa Esperança Coffee Farm 

PRODUCTION OF GRAPES AND WINES

GRAPE

Deployed in 2000 with the purpose of producing table grapes and handcrafted wines, Boa Esperança Farm has one hectare of “Vitis labrusca" grape varietie in production. The current cultivars planted are: Niagara, Pink Niagara, Bordô and Isabel. 

WINE

In 2002 began the production of hand-crafted wines in the farm, remaining so until the present day. The grapes from the farm are processed by hand, and only the red wine is produced on the farm its label is "Nono Alfredo". The most remarkable characteristics of the drink are the acidity and fruitiness.

 

EUCALYPTUS

 

The eucalyptus is one of the alternatives found in the farm in order to diversify its cultivation of annual crops, generate income, and obtain feedstock for power generation, construction and repairs.

SHORT-TERM CROPS

In some seasons of the year the planting of short-cycle species such as beans and corn is done in the farm, with the beans planted between coffee streets in areas of low prune, and maize sown in areas of recent plant seedlings of coffee, serving as a wind break until the seedlings develop.

PASTURE

With approximately 40 hectares of natural grassland, the farm performs management operations and maintenance of these areas to prevent erosion, thus maintaining their pastures always suitable for animal feed. The pastures are formed mostly by Brachiaria decumbens, Brachiaria Brizantha and bahiagrass.

DIARY COWS

With about 15 dairy cows in production of Holstein Friesian, Gyr and  Girolando, some bulls and calves are found in the farm too. The farm produces raw milk for their own consumption and little trade.

LAKES

With a total of seven lakes, these have as its main functions the leisure activities from the owner, employees and visitors, landscape value and allocation of agricultural water for farm use. The most commonly found species of fish is Nile tilapia, catfish and trahiras.
