OUR COFFEE
The Boa Esperança Farm is traditional in the production of Arabica coffees, with a large number of cultivars, each one with unique characteristics. The varieties are grown between 900 and 1100 meters, under different conditions of insolation, spacing and soil type.
THE PLACE
The farm is located in Serra Negra city, São Paulo estate, Brazil. The city started planting coffee on a large scale in mid-1873, receiving in 1880 the first families of Italian immigrants to work in the coffee plantations. In 1892 was inaugurated the Mogiana railroad Company, which had among its main role the flow of coffee produced in the city.
THE FARM
Founded in the mid-1930s, the Boa Esperança Farm started at this time their first plantations of coffee, and over the years the farm changed ownership a few times, but the coffee culture has always been the main activity of the property remaining in this until the present day.
SPECIALTY COFFEE
Started in the 2012/2013 crop Boa Esperança Farm hired a full-time technical assistance, for between her 60 blocks, 9 cultivars, 5 managements postharvest, various sides of sunlight and soil, can find coffees with possible potential for quality, thereby promoting the mountain coffee and enhancing this product, which is recognized as a product with excellent quality.
NUCOFFEE
NUCOFFEE is a program established by Syngenta which operates in all parts of the coffee chain, promoting integration between producers, cooperatives and roasters through commercialization of differentiated quality coffees. The program offers producers and cooperatives a range of services to support them in improving the quality and good farming practices, while helping to create closer relationships between demand and origin of coffee. NUCOFFEE is a new way of approaching the coffee chain, which is simpler, humane and transparent. Each initiative program is guided by three main pillars that promote the evolution of coffee culture: SUPPORT, COMMITMENT and TRACKING. Since 2012 Boa Esperança Farm is part of this partnership with Syngenta.
UTZ CERTIFIED
UTZ Certified is a trademark and a program for sustainable agriculture for agricultural products. Launched in 2002 is currently the largest certification program for coffee, tea and cocoa in the world. It was originally known as Utz Kapeh, which means "good coffee" in Mayan Quiché language, hence the origin of the slogan "UTZ CERTIFIED Good Inside". On March 7, 2007, Utz Kapeh Foundation officially changed its name and logo to UTZ Certified. UTZ Certified is a basis of standards for the global implementation of sustainable coffee. Producers with the UTZ label must comply a strict code of conduct and good agricultural practices (social, labor, economic and environmental).
